Retreat for Veterans offered June 15-17

WARNER SPRINGS- The San Diego Chapter of Veterans For Peace will sponsor a healing retreat for veterans led by Buddhist Monk Claude AnShin Thomas. San Diego Veterans For Peace, the Hugh Thompson Memorial Chapter, is honored to bring Thomas to San Diego to lead a retreat for veterans dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, for healing, reflection, and sharing by and for veterans and their spouses.

Thomas is a decorated combat veteran of the Vietnam War, author of the book At Hell’s Gate A Soldier’s Journey from War to Peace, and is the founder of the Zaltho Foundation, a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote peace and nonviolence in and among individual veterans, families, societies, and countries.

The retreat, for veterans and their spouses, will be held Friday, June 15th – Sunday, June 17th at Manzanita Village, located near Warner Springs.

Veterans are invited to attend this retreat regardless of religious or spiritual tradition. Many different forms of meditation will be practiced. Meditation can simply be understood as the art of discovering what prevents us from living directly.”

For more information including the cost of the retreat which covers all meals and housing, please access the Web site: http://www.sdvfp.org. If transportation is required there is a small extra charge. Also, a limited number of sponsorships are available for those in need.
