RE: 'Post office continues to mishandle mail' 5-17-07

We order a lot over the Internet and have items shipped to our family post office box. We initially did this because the mail to our street address would frequently be sent to the wrong street with our same house number.

We wrote the Postmaster several times, didn’t get a response or an improvement in the situation. So we thought if we got a post office box, this would take care of the problem.

Then I found out that we weren’t getting the notification of our packages arriving. After a month of waiting for a package, I called DHL who confirmed they did indeed deliver to the Fallbrook post office.

My grandfather went in with this information to have them check on it. The response was, “No, it’s not here.” However, he insisted they check again. This time the package was found. I thought it was a fluke. Another time they found a package buried in a corner.

We shouldn’t have to chase down our packages like this. It’s exhausting. But now reading about all of the other customers with similar frustrations, I have come up with a solution. Get a Personal Mail Box (PMB) from the UPS Store or similar. I can’t fear that the service could be any worse.

In talking with fellow postal customers, images of “Newman” (from Seinfeld) unfortunately come to mind. There’s something very wrong at the post office and it needs to be corrected.

Whoever is in charge of package notification and package storage needs to be written up and disciplined.
