Relay for Life June 2-3

FALLBROOK — American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life comes to Fallbrook for the fourth year this weekend, June 2 and 3. Teams will begin walking at 10 a.m. on June 2 on the track of Fallbrook High School and won’t stop walking until 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 3.

The relay has almost tripled in size from last year, when 11 teams circled the track for 24 hours to raise money for cancer research.

“We’re very proud of this year’s growth,” said event chairperson Wanda Reidmuller. “Having 31 teams this year is a fantastic opportunity to raise a lot of money for research and important programs. Our team recruiter, Erin Walker, worked very hard getting teams involved this year. Now it’s time for the teams to step up and raise as much money as they can for the event.”

“Of course, Relay is about raising money for the American Cancer Society, but there’s more to it than that,” said Reidmuller. “We’re also there to celebrate cancer survivors and to remember those we’ve lost.”

The first lap of the day is for cancer survivors only. The 400-plus participants will cheer them around the track. Then, they will be treated to a beautiful breakfast catered by The Lace Apron. Numerous local businesses have generously sponsored the event.
