Renowned author to speak

Renowned author, Chalmers Johnson, will be speaking in Fallbrook on June 2. Johnson is the author of the newly released book ‘Nemesis, The Last Days of the American Republic.’

Desperately hoping a new administration can prevent the demise of the American republic as we once knew it, Americans have contributed hundreds of millions of dollars to select new candidates for president. According to Johnson, a new administration is unlikely to prevent the possible collapse of America. The danger is not from foreign enemies, but domestic enemies who have undermined America’s economy and Constitution.

According to an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released on April 26, 2007, some 78% of Americans believe their country is headed in the wrong direction. Only 22% think the Bush administration’s policies make sense. Although the stock market has soared to record heights, the majority of Americans are uneasy about their personal economic stability. Economic indicators already predict a recession by the end of the year.

Corporations are sucking massive amounts of capital out of the U.S. and destroying American jobs. Economist Robert Reich stated that the president’s supply-side tax cuts are great for America’s global investors who have been investing their extra money around the world -- either in foreign companies or in global American-based ones, however little or nothing is trickling down to average working Americans.

Johnson will speak at 3:30 p.m. at the Fallbrook Public Utilities headquarters (FPUD), 990 E. Mission Rd., across from Circle K. Admission is free.

Few speakers are as powerful, persuasive and knowledgeable as Mr. Johnson. A capacity audience is expected for this dynamic speaker and scholar. Johnson will accept questions from the audience after his address.
