Garden Club announces National Garden Week highlights

On Saturday, June 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Fallbrook Garden Club will celebrate National Garden Week at the Fallbrook Village Square on Main Avenue and Alvarado Street. Highlighting the event is the club’s educational component, the La Paloma School Garden at 300 Heald Lane, one of eight gardens on the tour that day. Members of the club will be on hand to discuss the school gardening program there.

Members will also be at the square to discuss the activities of the Garden Club and are prepared to sign up new members. Member Margaret-Ann Ashton will have her butterfly exhibit on display. There will also be plants, garden art, garden hats, butterfly feeders and other garden-related items for exhibit and sale. Original art pieces and gift baskets will be raffled off during the day. In addition, author Debra Lee Baldwin will sign her newly released book, “Designing with Succulents,” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the succulent garden of horticulturalist Patrick Anderson.

The public can purchase tickets, including maps, at the square from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. for the Third Annual Fallbrook Garden Tour. Eight creative and beautiful gardens will be open for viewing in the Fallbrook/Bonsall area. All proceeds from the tour and raffle will benefit the Fallbrook Garden Club Scholarship Fund and other community projects. For more information, contact Sandi LeMasters at (760) 723-3783.
