Local Fire Safe Councils sponsor Summer Seminar Series

The Deer Springs and Fallbrook Fire Safe Councils are sponsoring a Large Animal Evacuation Summer Seminar Series.

The first seminar’s main topic, Trailer Loading During an Emergency, will be presented by Marion Korn, a student of the Parelli Natural Horsemanship program. Marion says, “Horses have instincts, thoughts and emotions about people just as we do about them. Unconsciously, people trigger survival instincts in horses all the time and usually with great consequences. A horse will do anything to escape if he perceives his survival is threatened.” Find out how to prepare your horse to load quickly and quietly, even in an emergency.

The evening’s second topic, Information about a private based Reverse 9-1-1 Emergency Notification System, will be presented by Deer Springs Fire Safe Council representative Georgia Herman. Find out how you can create your own notification system for your family or community.

This first seminar will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2007, from 6:30 to 8 PM at the Hidden Meadows Pavilion (pool area), 10141 Meadow Glen Way East, off of Mountain Meadow Rd. If possible, please RSVP by calling (760) 855-1641 or (760) 731-0580.

Directions: From I-15 and Deer Springs Rd exit, Go Northeast on Deer Springs Rd. which becomes Mountain Meadow Rd. At the top of the hill turn left to stay on Mountain Meadow Rd. At the four-way stop turn left onto Meadow Glen Way East and immediately right up the hill to the pool area.

The Deer Springs and Fallbrook Fire Safe Councils will present the second seminar in the series, Local Evacuation Sites and Animal Identification Techniques on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at the Vista Palomar Riders Clubhouse. Watch for details in the paper and look for the second seminar flyer at local feed and supply stores.

The Deer Springs and Fallbrook Fire Councils will also sponsor a third Large Animal Microchip Clinic with Dr. Colburn’s practice. The Clinic will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2007, 9 AM to 12 PM. Participation must be scheduled, so if you are interested please call (760) 855-1641 to RSVP and schedule your visit.
