Rotarians complete seven community projects

Rotarians at Work Day came and went on Saturday, April 28, and when the group of more than 100 Rotarians and other volunteers left for home, they left behind seven completed local Fallbrook service projects. On this annual community service day, members of all three local Rotary clubs donned their Rotarians at Work blue t-shirts, work clothes and positive attitude and painted, cleaned and landscaped, happily fulfilling their motto, “Service Above Self.”

The Rotary Club of Fallbrook had more than 70 Rotarians and other volunteers hard at work at the Fallbrook Historical Society, repainting the exterior of the 100-year-old house and landscaping the grounds; at Santa Margarita County Park, trimming trees, bulldozing concrete and clearing the extensive trail system; at the Fallbrook Boys & Girls Club of North County, painting a hallway and doors; and at the Fallbrook Street Elementary School District offices, trimming landscaping and clearing weeds.

The Bonsall Rotary Club had more than two dozen Rotarians and volunteers working on the Fallbrook Senior Center, painting areas of the interior and performing building repairs. Additionally, the Fallbrook Village Rotary Club gathered roughly the same amount of Rotarians and volunteers to help with weeding and cleaning up the Odd Fellows Cemetery, where a Civil War soldier who was awarded the Medal of Honor is interred.
