Fellows honored by Music Society

FALLBROOK — Fallbrook Music Society’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Wilma Hallock Fellows has been named its Volunteer of the Year for her outstanding and unselfish service to the Music Society. The award will be presented on Tuesday, June 12, at the San Diego Performing Arts League’s annual Star Awards celebration at the Sheraton Hotel in San Diego. Fallbrook Music Society Board members and family members will be in attendance.

“Wilma Fellows has been an enthusiastic volunteer in every aspect of the Music Society’s activities since becoming the organization’s second president nearly 30 years ago,” says Brenda Montiel, president of the Society. “Recognized for her outstanding leadership, dedication, commitment and her deep passion for the Music Society, we are all deeply grateful to Wilma for her dedicated service and selfless commitment to the organization.”

Fellows established the first working board of directors; was instrumental in presenting the first Concert on the Green; conceived the organization’s first newsletter, “Hear Here;” founded the Quarter Notes, a group of 25 support volunteers; served on numerous committees and in various capacities on the board of directors; and is also the Music Society’s historian.

Star Awards provide a high-profile, genuine and heartfelt opportunity for League members of San Diego’s arts and culture community to recognize over 70 volunteers from music, theater, dance and other cultural organizations.

Fallbrook Music Society, celebrating its 30th anniversary, presents a series of seven professional orchestral and chamber concerts annually as well as the annual Symphony Pops on the Green summer event at the Grand Tradition.

This year the Music Society will also introduce a special baroque Christmas concert. For more information about Fallbrook Music Society, visit http://www.fallbrookmusicsociety.org.
