Cinco de Mayo participation appreciated

Some individuals are privileged to experience in a lifetime a rare occurrence of “true community spirit that crosses all boundaries.” On short notice, less than a week, as co-chair of the Cinco de Mayo Festival on May 6, we had to come up with $900 for an unexpected expense for this event. I e-mailed all the churches in Fallbrook, Bonsall and Rainbow asking for their financial help. I would like to share with our community that St. John’s Anglican Church, Hilltop Center for Spiritual Living, United Methodist Church and Zion Lutheran Church raised $600 in four days.

Bob Kimzey, an individual citizen, heard about this effort and personally delivered $100 to my office without even being asked. And Mohammed Rahman with El Toro Market, already a sponsor, came up with additional cash to help us meet our goal.

We are a community to be extremely proud of due to the wonderful human beings who have the ability to cross all cultural boundaries and celebrate each other with honor and pride in an alcohol- and drug-free environment!

For me, this was truly a life-changing experience of integrity through diversity because of how each and all of you contributed in your own unique way. Thank you.
