Library announces altruistic summer reading program

San Diego County Library will offer an online summer reading program this summer with an altruistic twist. “Read for a Reason” encourages young people, to age 18, to complete reading goals to benefit others – in this case, to feed orphaned animals.

Youth will “Read a Book, Fill a Bowl” to help feed orphaned dogs and cats at Helen Woodward Animal Center (HWAC). Participants can log on to the Web site for updates on how many bowls are filled as well as to learn more about HWAC’s many services, including photos of “Pets of the Week.” In addition, links to fun, interactive link...
