Also serving the communities of De Luz, Rainbow, Camp Pendleton, Pala and Pauma
Thank you to the community for the many flowers (poppies) blooming over Fallbrook! VFW Post #1924 and their Ladies Auxiliary would like to thank all who donated to our successful fundraiser this year.
The tradition of selling Buddy Poppies goes back to World War I. American soldiers were buried in pastures, wheat fields and on the battlefields of Europe, where bright red poppies grew wild.
A poem was written by a Canadian doctor, Lt. Col. John McCrae, while caring for the wounded: “In Flanders Fields the poppies blow/Between the crosses, row on row…”
So, next year when you see someone selling poppies (or wearing a Buddy Poppy), you will know what it represents and we hope you will donate.
Businesses that donated include Cal Customs, Foli Chiropractic, Berry-Bell & Hall Fallbrook Mortuary, Miller Irrigation, Fallbrook Auto Parts, Ed’s Cocktails and many more. All money donated to the Buddy Poppy program stays in our community and helps veterans and their families, young and old. Thank you for your support.
