Local health club offers the personal touch

Club Paradise has been serving the health-conscious residents of the Greater Fallbrook Area since 1993 and has a demonstrated flair in meeting the needs of its clientele.

“We have a real small town atmosphere; we don’t try to be like a big fitness club,” said Brian Hanson, owner. Hanson said Club Paradise strives to give its patrons a family-oriented, friendly gym.

“People really seem to like it here,” he noted.

Though Club Paradise Fitness and Club Paradise Fitness Express are more compact in size, they do offer high-end equipment and a talented group of certified personal trainers and fitness coaches. Hanson realizes that working out at a smaller facility is less intimidating than going to a ‘large box’ fitness center, particularly for those who are first-timers or springing back into the workout world after taking a break.

“This is a smaller gym and people get more staff member attention,” Hanson said.

The attentiveness the staff shows clients has been ideal for the club’s partnership with The Silver Sneakers Fitness Program.

“It allows people who are on a policy like Secure Horizons free membership,” Hanson explained. “Insurance companies recognize the fact that the social and fitness ‘thing’ is making [seniors’] medical bills go down.” These insurance companies are willing to pay for health club membership because it is driving down the cost of medical bills for senior citizens and increases their wellbeing.

Similarly, a recent business analysis noted that when employees exercise, there are less sick days used at the office and productivity increases.

We have heard it over and over – that exercise does the body good.

“There is a lot of stress and pressure on people more now than ever,” said Hanson. “It is scientifically proven that a normal routine of exercise helps reduce stress and weight-related problems.” Hanson also pointed out that being physically fit should be everyone’s goal. Being fit means combining cardiovascular workouts and weightlifting sessions. The cardio burns calories, while the weightlifting builds bone mass.

Life can be hectic. With this said, many wonder how they can muster up the energy for a workout in the morning or one in the evening.

“Stress makes you tired,” explained Hanson. “If you exercise, you will be shocked with the energy you gain.” This boost of energy is because of the release of endorphins, which can make you feel better and improve your mental outlook.

Hanson suggested that people strive to change their mindset. Just like drinking water and eating three meals a day, people need to transfer this habitual process to exercise, too. “We, as a society, have got to get more active,” he emphasized. “The goal is to get everybody healthy.”

Hanson’s mission to help people get healthy has branched out to supporting the community. Club Paradise has been known to be generous to the Fallbrook School District, local programs and other charitable events. In turn, Hanson appreciates the support townspeople give the local gym.
