Patersons to participate in historic Formula Ford event

Brothers Stewart and Andy Paterson of Fallbrook will compete in a historic event on June 23 and 24 when 30 or more vintage and current Formula Fords will race in two events saluting the “Birth of Formula Ford 40 Years Ago.” Ford established Formula Ford in 1967 as a starting point for young hopeful drivers seeking a career in automobile racing. Over the past 40 years, many Formula One Champions and Indy 500 drivers developed in Formula Ford and progressed to the highest levels of racing.

Drivers from as far away as Virginia, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado and Arizona will vie with local California drivers (five from San Diego County) for points, trophies and awards at California Speedway. These 135-140 mph cars provide great excitement with drivers making every attempt to improve their track positions on each lap.

The infield will be open and spectators are invited to roam the paddock and watch the racing that begins at 8:30 a.m. each morning. Two-day admission is $25.
