Adams has low score in So. CA Amateur qualifying tournament

Fallbrook High School graduate Kenny Adams had the low score in a qualifying tournament for the Southern California Amateur golf tournament.

Adams shot a score of 68 in mid-May during a qualifying tournament at the Southern California Golf Association course in Murrieta. “It felt good to finally get back in the competitive mode,” Adams said. “It was good to get off to a good start.”

The qualifying tournament was the first for Adams since the end of the college golf season. Adams is currently a junior at the University of San Francisco. During the 2006-07 season he had the low average on the USF team and had the fifth-lowest average in the West Coast Conference. “Overall I did all right, but I’ve got some things to work on and do better next year,” he said.

Adams had previously shot a 67 at the SCGA course during his senior season at Fallbrook High School. That score was achieved during the North County Conference championship match in 2004. “I really haven’t played it much since then,” he said.

The qualifying tournament consisted of a single round. The Southern California Amateur will take place in late June at the Victoria Country Club in Riverside. “Hopefully the summer goes a lot better,” Adams said.
