Music Society announces 30th anniversary concert season

FALLBROOK — Fallbrook Music Society recently announced its 30th anniversary (2007-2008) concert season with a wide variety of superb musical events.

Kicking off the yearlong celebration, Symphony “Pops” on the Green will feature a special engagement by the San Diego Symphony Orchestra. The event will be held lakeside on Thursday, August 23, on the grounds of the Grand Tradition. Listeners can dine with their own picnic dinner or with a special pre-ordered box picnic followed by an uplifting concert of American pops and light classical favorites.

Five symphony concerts will provide a delightful variety of international listening experiences, beginning with the esteemed Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra from Budapest, Hungary, and culminating with a triumphant tribute to “America the Beautiful,” which highlights the works of the great American composers.

In addition, Redlands Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Jon Robertson, will perform three concerts, including a special performance of “Rhapsody in Blue” by Jon Robertson at the piano. A Fallbrook area favorite, this orchestra has received the prestigious California Arts Council’s highest “exemplary” rating for seven consecutive seasons.

The two-concert Virtuoso Series offers another unique experience in music and culture with the acclaimed Italian Saxophone Quartet from Rome and Angel Romero, the incomparable Maestro of the classical guitar.

New this year will be the introduction of a Christmas concert performed by the Aulos Ensemble from New York with soprano Julianne Baird. Across the country, this ensemble’s “Baroque Christmas” concert tour has become an essential part of holiday celebrations by performing on instruments from the time of Bach and Handel.

Symphony concerts will take place at the Bob Burton Center for the Performing Arts. For additional information and pricing about this year’s concert season, call (760) 451-8644 or visit http://www.fallbrookmusicsociety.org.
