CERT graduates 30 more trainees

FALLBROOK — On June 23, the North County CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) conducted the drill and graduation of 30 area community members who had completed training. The activities were held at Living Waters Christian Fellowship Church.

The free classes for community members teach how to prepare for any type of natural or manmade disaster and how to deal with the aftermath of any such catastrophe, both as an individual, care for family and neighbors and service within the community. The local CERT is sponsored by the North County Fire Department, teaches classes through Palomar College and serves under the umbrella of Homeland Security, the Citizen Corps and the Office of Emergency Services.

The next class, which meets once a week for eight weeks, will begin Tuesday, July 31. Material can be reviewed online. Everyone can participate in some way. Classes will be at Living Waters Church and will start at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.

For more information or to register for the upcoming training session, contact Public Information Officer Millie Martin at (760) 500-7473 or [email protected].
