Adult literacy program celebrates new Vista center

VISTA — The San Diego County Library’s adult literacy program, LEARN (Libraries Empower All to Read Now), will launch its North County Adult Learning Center with an open house on Saturday, June 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its Vista Branch Library location, 700 Eucalyptus Avenue.

County Library Director José Aponte will greet visitors. Eduardo Garcia Acosta and his band, El Otro Son, will provide music and storytelling. Refreshments will be served.

The North County Adult Learning Center is a branch of the County Library’s main literacy center in the El Cajon Branch Library. Center staff manages the training of tutors for the adult literacy program as well as the recruitment of new tutors and learners. A second mission of the center is to coordinate ESL (English as a Second Language) tutoring.
