Red Mountain Reservoir convinced me to drink bottled water

In response to Joe Jackson’s (FPUD) normal diatribe of hate and misinformation, I still demand proof, in writing, that the State of California requires changes in disinfection from chlorine to UV disinfection plus chlorine. Ultra-Violet disinfection is only a disinfection process; it has been around since 1910 and one expert claims it is only effective on pre-treated (clean) water. It is not a water purification process.

Mr. Jackson, I was not an Assistant Engineer with San Diego City. I was (1997), and still am, a California registered professional Civil Engineer (Registration #C56761 exp. 06/30/09). Furthermore, I do not recall ever crawling into confined spaces; you are confused and hateful, as usual.

Red Mountain Reservoir photos convinced me to drink only bottled water. It is an open reservoir into which bird defecation (especially from swimming ducks), insects, dust and dirt accumulation cannot be prevented. San Diego City does not pump water directly into its water system from open reservoirs; health issues require treatment first.

Sewage sludge disposition is never free especially since FPUD is spending $3-5 million on a process without FPUD customer voting approval. An ordinance requiring custom voter approval for all FPUD spending in excess of $500,000 is necessary.

Every year in Fallbrook I hear the same bull that FPUD is spending money on some grandiose process which will save ratepayer money, none of which ever happened except the money spending. FPUD ratepayers have big spending managers causing water costs to rise each year. Existing management must be replaced (including Jackson and the Directors) with managers practicing real savings. The cost of the Santa Margarita River project could be more than $60 million. Are ratepayers willing to saddle their children and grandchildren with that kind of debt? FPUD’s manager, Keith Lewinger, doesn’t live in Fallbrook and is never affected.
