Splitting the Democratic vote

I can’t believe that the average votes can’t see the real purpose behind Bloomberg’s switch from being Republican to being an Independent. It all relates to splitting the Democratic vote in the next Presidential election and thereby allowing the Republican candidates to get more votes than either the Democratic or Independent candidates can garner separately. He’s playing the same successful card that Sen. Lieberman of Connecticut played in the last election. That is, appeal to the large Jewish vote by catering to Israel’s support for Bush’s war in Iraq. (A war which is really Israel’s war – but is being fought by American soldiers acting as Israel’s surrogates.) They thereby steal votes from the majority anti-war group.

Historically, many US Jews have been solidly Democratic – but their support for Israel tends to color their vision, and takes them away from basic principles in their desire to support the Jewish homeland.
