Was protest about immigration?

As a resident living near St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Stage Coach Lane, I was appalled when I drove by last Saturday (June 16) and saw the flag-waving protesters out in front of the Sanctuary. I was brought up to believe that the Church was sacred ground, a sanctuary to support and protect all the oppressed and needy, no matter what their circumstance. This is a telling sign of where this fringe element is really going.

I mentioned this incident to my parents, who grew up in Germany during World War II, and their response was, “This is how the Nazis got started [targeting churches and synagogues].”

Illegal immigration is a very complex issue in our economic and social structure, but my gut tells me this is not about immigration!
