Real estate a 'labor of love' at Sunshine Properties

The real estate industry has played an important role in the lives of Sammee and Ralph Foster. Not only are they the owners of Sunshine Properties GMAC Real Estate, but they met through this line of work that eventually united them in marriage 10 years ago.

“We were friends for 16 years before we got married,” said Sammee, smiling at Ralph, seated next to her. “We both have a common goal; we work too much.” Sammee said things have worked out well because they do the same type of work and they work the same kinds of hours.

“Real estate is a real labor of love” said Ralph. An agent since 1982, his expertise is in raw land and groves, a direct correlation to his vast experience in the avocado packing industry and being born into a third generation of avocado growers. His mastery in raw land is reflected in his knowledge of county guidelines, his astute problem-solving capabilities and areas including easements, septic systems, road and utility issues.

“These things take a lot patience and experience,” said Ralph.

Sammee said she has perpetually been drawn to real estate for many, many years. “I have always loved homes, and to be of service to people,” she said. “I love to help and please people.” Sammee is said to set a wonderful example of customer service, which is contagious to the other people in the office. And their numbers prove that it works.

Every time a real estate transaction is completed, a third-party, independent GMAC team sends out a customer satisfaction survey to the clients. “Last year, on that survey, [Sunshine Properties] got a 100-percent customer satisfaction,” Sammee said. It is this type of superior service that has kept Sunshine Properties in business for 26 years.

Ralph said he has been told by many that Sunshine Properties is the “friendliest office” in town. “We really do pride ourselves on being available,” he explained.

Sammee and Ralph admitted that their real estate office is like a family. They have seventeen full-time and four part-time seasoned agents working with them.

“And these agents have at least 10 years’ experience in the industry,” Sammee said. “We have a very mature, experienced staff.”

Sunshine Properties has an extended work-related family living in their back office: Meridian Mortgage. Customers have been thrilled to have Meridian Mortgage available at their fingertips for the last few years. “We have a one-stop shop for our clients,” said Sammee.

Ralph explained that Meridian was created because at times big mortgage companies can let people down: “Sometimes these lenders don’t care and they make promises that they can’t keep.” The mission of Meridian Mortgage is to work in sync with Sunshine Properties. Having this mortgage company on the same premises makes every step of the real estate transaction more efficient.

On a daily basis, Sunshine Properties lives and breathes their mission statement: “Service you deserve from people you can trust.”
