Seelyes celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

Fallbrook residents Howard and Gloria Walls Seelye celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 29, spending several days on “their second favorite island,” Catalina.

The Seelyes, both native Californians, grew up in Whittier and met while attending Whittier College, in the office of the school newspaper. They have both had careers as newspaper reporters, editors and publishers, and later on the staffs of legislators, working on more than 35 political campaigns.

Howard and Gloria moved to Fallbrook in 1985 from Newport Beach and are now residents of Rancho Monserate Country Club retirement community. They keep active playing golf, swimming and volunteering in community organizations. The couple has a son and daughter, three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.
