Brandon Gallery to exhibit 'Painting with Mary T.'

FALLBROOK — This month, Brandon Gallery will feature the work of the current students of Mary Tomaskevitch, a local watercolorist, in the Etcetera Gallery. The exhibition is titled “Painting with Mary T.” Participants in the exhibition will be Lynn Davis, Brigitta Fox, Lucinda Orth, Teresa French, Peggy Klinger, Barbara Finwell, Kim Schwichtenberg, Doris Wilke, Esther Smith, Carol Zelesky, Gaspar Vascaro and Diane Jensen. A reception for the artists will be held July 14 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Tomaskevitch is well known in Fallbrook as a talented watercolorist. She has been teaching through the adult education program at Palomar College for more than 20 years. Through out those years, she has influenced many who have matured into well known local artists in their own right.

Before becoming affiliated with Palomar, Tomaskevitch taught watercolor in various locations around town and also in her home. She was one of the three artists who started Brandon Gallery in 1977 and one of the first members of the Fallbrook Art Association. She still contributes to the art community at large in an advisory capacity.

When asked about her current class, Tomaskevitch said that they were “especially responsive, and therefore quite successful in their endeavors.”
