Election 2008 Film Festival to feature 'Dr. Strangelove'

FALLBROOK — The film classic “Dr. Strangelove” (1964) will be shown on July 14 at 2 p.m. as the second in the highly successful Fallbrook Democratic Club’s Election 2008 Free Summer Film Festival.

This brilliant and satirical comedy from producer/director Stanley Kubrick features a doomsday scenario and Cold War politics that leads to an inadvertent pre-emptive nuclear attack. Famed actor Peter Sellers stars in three leading roles, along with George C. Scott, Sterling Hayden, Keenan Wynn, James Earl Jones and Slim Pickens in perhaps his most famous role.

The film festival, shown on the club’s new high-definition projection system and complete with a “popcorn wagon” and beverages, is being offered as a community service by the Fallbrook Democratic Club, providing an opportunity for fellowship, fun and energetic political discussion. “The Milagro Beanfield War,” a hilarious comedy of community activism directed by Robert Redford, is scheduled for August 25.

The film will be shown in the Fallbrook Public Utility District community room, 990 East Mission Road. For more information visit http://www.fallbrookdemocraticclub.com or contact Bob Hamilton at (760) 731-2195.
