Featherstone named golf team's MVP: Bednarski, Ware share Coaches' Award

Colin Featherstone was named the most valuable player of Fallbrook High School’s boys golf team while the Coaches’ Award was shared by Stan Bednarski and Matt Ware.

The awards were given at the team banquet June 6 held at the home of assistant coach Ken Adams.

Featherstone was the team’s only starting senior as well as the Warriors’ top golfer. “We’re going to miss him,” said head coach Steve Jorde.

Adams, who plans to play at San Diego State University, was a four-year starter for Fallbrook High School. “Even as a freshman was a [number] 1 and 2 player,” Jorde said. “He’s just a super player.”

Adams averaged 37.2 strokes per nine holes during the season, including 37.5 strokes per nine holes in Avocado League matches.

Bednarski, a junior, is a three-year letterman. “He’s improved a great deal each year,” Jorde said. “He’s going to be, obviously, one of our top players next year.”

Bednarski averaged 39.7 strokes per nine holes overall and 40.3 strokes per nine holes in league matches.

Ware, a sophomore, was a junior varsity player for most of the 2006 season and completed his first full varsity season in 2007 with an average of 40.7 strokes per nine holes. “He was just a good number three player for us all year,” Jorde said. “I see him being one of our top players next year.”
