AVID students honored with dinner

FALLBROOK — The Fallbrook Smiles Project (FSP) and its Exercise Task Force Cooperative held a dinner recently to recognize the outstanding volunteerism by Fallbrook High School AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) students during the 2006-2007 school year.

The dinner was held at Puerto Nuevo Restaurant in Fallbrook and was very well attended by approximately 25 AVID students. Exercise Task Force Cooperative Coordinator Pat Sica was also congratulated for her efforts in all aspects of the program.

Among the attendees were Dan Goldberg and Vi Dupre from the Fallbrook Healthcare District, a primary source of funding for FSP; pediatrician Dr. Christine Taft; diabetes educator Janine Loescher; and Dr. Sally Wolf.

The Cooperative will resume its activities during the 2007-2008 school year and will continue to operate no-cost, after-school physical activity sessions at various locations throughout the community.
