Rainbow residents offered free workshop on new regulations

RAINBOW — Residents of Rainbow need to be aware of the new Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) regulations and their consequences. The regulations have been put in place in order to reduce the amount of nitrates and phosphates entering Rainbow Creek. Nitrates and phosphates pose a threat to their health and the wellbeing of their surrounding environment. It is especially important that grove and nursery owners be aware of these regulations and have an efficient irrigation system installed.

In order to provide information about nitrate and phosphate regulations, the prevention of storm water pollution and the importance of efficient irrigation systems in Rainbow, Mission Resource Conservation District will be holding a free workshop to address these issues. Representatives from the Department of Agriculture and the Mission Resource Conservation District’s Agricultural Department will be presenting at this workshop and will be available afterward for questions.

Attendees will have the opportunity to sign up for free irrigation system evaluations. The workshop will be held on August 1 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Rainbow Valley Grange. For more information and directions to the free workshop, contact Bethany Principe at (760) 728-1332 or [email protected].
