Summer motocross continues at Perris Raceway

PERRIS — The action was fast and furious as the Hot Summer Nights racing series continued Saturday, July 7, at Perris Raceway. Following are the results for the Pee Wee racers.

4 Stroke 50cc

Fallbrook’s Caleb Battle won the hole shot on the first moto as both Dakota Bender and Marcus Nesby went down on the first turn. Battle led the field until he went down on the third lap. Recovering quickly, he continued on to finish second with Nesby close behind.

On the second moto, Battle was third around the initial turn and trailed the pack. On the second lap, however, he made his move on an inside pass. He led the rest of the way with Nesby and Bender in hot pursuit. Final standings found Battle in first place, with Bender in second and Nesby in third.

2 Stroke Modified

This race was fast and close, with each rider pushing the limits of their KTM bikes. This was a full-throttle, exciting crowd-pleaser of a race, with everyone giving 100 percent effort. Rene Garcia led the way initially, never allowing a chance for other riders to pass. He flew down the back part of the track but finally gave way to eventual first place finisher Ryan Washburn, with Jacob Shockly taking third.

65 beginner class

Jacob Looper rode well enough to take the win in this class. He was followed by Dale Rouse and Katie Stark, who placed second and third, respectively.

Round four of Hot Summer Nights will take place July 21. Gates open at noon; practice starts at 3:30 and racing will begin at 4:30. Visit http://www.perrisraceway.com for more information.
