AAUW members take trip up the river

FALLBROOK — Early June saw six members of Fallbrook AAUW, their spouses and guests travel the rivers of Europe. Before embarking on their trip up the rivers they experienced enchanting Paris, then Luxembourg and Trier, Germany. The river voyage was aboard the luxurious Amadagio, one of the finest river cruise ships in Europe. The group cruised many rivers until they reached the Main-Danube Canal to Nuremberg, ending the tour in the Czech Republic in the charming medieval city of Prague. The picturesque towns, magnificent palaces, museums and castles delighted and entertained them thoroughly.

The Heartland cruise was the idea of member Diane Reeder, a travel consultant at Worldview Travel in Solano Beach. A portion of the profits Reeder received for organizing the trip were donated to AAUW to help finance community programs such as the Legal Advocacy Fund, Educational Field Studies and the AVID students at Fallbrook High School. This is the fourth successful fundraiser Reeder has headed up to benefit local students. A check for $1,600 was presented to Chris Young, newly elected president of Fallbrook AAUW.
