Barone raises money for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

FALLBROOK — Heather Barone, a resident of Fallbrook for the majority of her life, helped raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society by running with their team during the 2007 Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon, held June 3 in San Diego.

“This team coached me and gave me the support I needed to finish the race,” Barone said. “I needed the support of my family, friends and community members and it really helped me to finish 26.2 miles in four hours and 49 minutes. Everyone’s donations are helping give people a brighter future.

“I have been fortunate enough to be healthy all these years to help me accomplish my dreams, and now I want to help people with cancer get healthy so they can continue to accomplish their dreams.”

Barone graduated from Fallbrook High School in 2002 and was actively engaged in sports and community service.

Running is part of Barone’s big goal. She raised more than $1,700 thanks to the help of sponsors that include River Village Properties, Bonsall Photo, Howells Gifts, Today’s Window Fashions and many individuals.
