Neighborhood holds own July 4 celebration

FALLBROOK — More than 60 residents, friends and visitors on Mil Sorpresas Drive got together to celebrate their patriotism with a parade and picnic on July 4.

About 30 people participated in the parade. Innovative decorations were attached to various types of vehicles – lawn tractors, golf carts, quads and a restored early model Ford tractor. Even the family dogs were decked out with patriotic ribbons and bows. Little kids sat in wagons and carts, waving their flags while moms and dads pulled them along. Some walked the parade route with decorated remote-controlled cars.

Residents said there was something for everyone to do and they found it impressive to see all the red, white and blue waving in the breeze.

After the parade, one neighbor hosted the others for a potluck picnic with all the traditional fare: hamburgers, hot dogs, apple pie and home ice cream! The neighborhood looks forward to making this an annual event.
