Tour highlights life during Mission era

OCEANSIDE — Visitors can take a behind-the-scenes tour at Mission San Luis Rey and learn about the Mission period in California. Three Saturdays have been scheduled for the popular tour, which includes areas of the mission property generally not accessible to the public, the Friars’ Garden, the Well House and the Choir Loft.

The tours will be on Saturday, July 21, led by docent David York; August 18 with Dr. Jack Williams, archaeologist; and September 15 with docent Harry Dismuke. All tours are held from 10 a.m. to noon. For cost and reservations, call (760) 757-2651, ext. 115.
