Generosity amazing at Junior Livestock Auction

I would like to address this letter to the entire community of Fallbrook. My two younger children have been members of Fallbrook 4-H for a number of years. One has been involved with dairy goats and public speaking and the other with dairy goats and chickens. This year, however, they both decided to raise a market animal.

My son, David, wanted a pig and my daughter, Lucia, wanted a lamb. I must say I wasn’t too excited about it, but I decided to give them the chance. After three and a half months or so, we were off to the San Diego County Fair, ready to compete with all the other county kids.

On the day of the Junior Livestock Auction, I was amazed. There were so many people from the local community there to support the kids and their projects. These people were from all backgrounds: doctors, lawyers, merchants, dentists, grandparents, friends, neighbors, restaurant owners – the list goes on and on. I was never so impressed, especially being from our little town of Fallbrook. The support for our kids was overwhelming. Their generosity when bidding for the different market animals, whether it be for personal consumption or money donated back for scholarship funds, was truly awesome!

Thank you, Fallbrook, for making this year such a memorable one for all of our kids as well as for this parent. Hope to see you again next year!
