Bianchi focuses on helping women maintain good health

Bianchi OB/Gyn Associates offers superlative medical care for women in each and every phase of their lives. Anthony Bianchi, MD, a board certified specialist, has been in practice for 17 years specializing in all phases of women’s health and female-related surgical procedures. Assisting with the birth of babies has also kept Bianchi quite busy.

“Just in Fallbrook alone, I have delivered probably about 1,500 babies,” he said, flashing a big smile.

In addition to Bianchi, the high-caliber medical team also includes Mark Dresbach, MD and Evelyn Silk, CFNP, well-known for her active involvement in menopausal research programs at the University of California at San Diego.

Recently, there have been some exciting changes at this specialty office. Through much hard work and dedication, they have established new contracts with more insurance companies, enabling more women to receive high-quality healthcare. Aside from the large insurance conglomerates, Bianchi has also opened his doors to people who are insured by smaller agencies.

“Basically, we accept all PPOs and two relatively local HMOs: Graybill SCMG and Regal and Rancho Family Medical,” he explained.

Now that Bianchi’s office is contracted with a large number of insurance companies, women at every stage of life can benefit from excellent treatment and have their healthcare monitored by top-notch specialists.

In some cases, mothers of teenage girls wonder when their daughter(s) should have their first visit to the gynecologist. “Generally speaking, the American College of OB/Gyn recommends that they see a doctor by their 18th birthday, if they are sexually active or if they have any female health-related problems or concerns,” said Bianchi.

These “health-related problems or concerns” may include HPV, the new vaccine for cervical cancer, pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, moodiness, PMTS (Premenstrual Tension Syndrome), dysmenorrhea (excessive cramps or pain with menstruation) or irregular periods.

Bianchi says he and his associates are committed to helping young women in the sometimes challenging early stages of womanhood.

Bianchi cannot stress enough the importance of annual pap smears. “It is so important, for a number of reasons,” he said. “First, it protects women from cervical cancer.” Depending on what stage of life a women is in, the overall process of this exam and communicating with one’s doctor on an annual basis can help in the early detection of ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, breast abnormalities and rectal cancer.

When it comes to maternity care, Bianchi and his team ensure the best prenatal care for mommies-to-be. “For practical reasons, there is such a comfort for patients when they are seen by the same people in the same office,” he said. Bianchi shared that he prides himself on the amount of time he is on-call to assist his patients and deliver the precious new additions to their families.

For women who are ready to conceive, Bianchi suggests pre-maternity counseling before they actively try to get pregnant. He noted that preparation prior to pregnancy is very important.

For mothers-to-be who are in their 30s and 40s and ready to start a family, where pregnancies can be of a higher risk, Bianchi has excellent connections with genetic counselors based in San Diego. “My patients will be set up with the ‘best of the best’ in terms of genetic counselors,” he said.

Following those childbearing years, Bianchi and his team of specialists can assist women making their way through menopause and are proactive at finding solutions for any discomforts a woman might experience in this transitional phase.

Bianchi realizes that women are immersed in a life filled with never-ending responsibilities and duties. “They are moms, breadwinners; they orchestrate the family and they are the glue that holds a family together,” he emphasized. He said despite these enormous responsibilities, it is important for women to empower themselves by taking care of their health, and he is happy to assist them.
