No need for a comic section

It’s easy to see why the Village News has no need for a comic section when there are always joke writers contributing to the Opinion page. At least, one would hope they are joking rather than being delusional.
Take comic writer Gerald Gerten, for example, who tells us the Liberals need to use Scooter Libby to “tarnish” the Bush Administration. Everyone must be laughing at that, because the entire world knows that the corrosion in this administration began long before the Libby trial – perhaps even before ballots were counted.
Then consider other jokesters, such as Chris Fuller, self-proclaimed expert as to why global warming is a scam, who believe they are smarter than scientists who are renowned worldwide. I can’t help but wonder if their opinions would change if Dick Cheney, rather than Al Gore, was leading the cause. The joke there is that Cheney does not have the moral obligation to mankind to do so.
I thank you, gentlemen, for providing much-needed laughs during this dark reign of G. W. Bush, et al.
