Couple helps hospital in Kenya

Larry and Alice Saunders recently returned from Maua, Kenya. Active members of the Fallbrook United Methodist Church outreach mission, they have been working on a much-needed sewer system for the Methodist hospital in Maua. The 260-bed facility serves a population of about 900,000 people.

Larry, retired engineering director of Otis Elevator, has worked on the project with the local Kenyans for 11 years. The hospital labor and costs are shared by two other Methodist churches. Collectively, they’ve raised $100,000. All the volunteers pay for their own expenses and provide expertise and labor to the project.
