St. John's Thrift Shop funds local agencies

FALLBROOK — At its July meeting, board members of St. John’s Thrift Shop approved the following funds for local organizations, bringing the total since January 2007 to $21,450:

• St. John’s Church, $7,000

• Fallbrook Food Pantry, $3,500

• Meals on Wheels, $3,000

• Cross Walk, $200

• Fallbrook Historical Society, $1,500

• Camp Pendleton Military Outreach, $2,000

• CROP Walk, $2,000

Fallbrook Art Association, $500

• Boy Scouts Eagle Project, $250

• Adopt-a-Block, $1,000

• North County Disabled Services, $500

The thrift shop, located at 1075 South Mission, Suite G (next to Radio Shack), derives its income from the sale of donated merchandise. Staffed by 52 volunteers, the shop is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

According to manager Kathy Campbell, “We always need volunteers, especially those willing to substitute occasionally to fill in for vacations or illness of regular staff.

“We’re also featuring a special table of Christmas items through July and August at bargain prices. As part of our celebration of 50 years in Fallbrook, we’ll be continuing our 50-percent-off sales the first Saturday of each month.

“We appreciate the donations of quality clothing and household items, which generate income to be shared with local agencies.”
