Who supports our troops?

This is an open letter to all military personnel, their families and all Americans who wish to support our troops regardless of their feelings on this war. I was absolutely astonished when I visited the Disabled American Veterans Web site’s legislative report on their ratings of California congressmen on how friendly their votes were to military and disabled veterans. Not one Republican Congressman got 100 percent (except Brian Bilbray, who was not in office for all issues), and all Democrat Congressmen got 100 percent.

Report after report are bringing to light facts that after 12 years of Republican control of Congress, benefits and conditions have deteriorated with absolutely no oversight until the Democrats regained the majority. Only now are the investigations gaining steam (re: Walter Reed hospital conditions, declining expenditures per wounded soldier, Halliburton meals and gas charged and not delivered, inadequate armor, equipment, stop loss, training, deployment without rest [vetoed by Bush]).

The next election in 2008, you can demand support of veterans and disabled veterans by voting a straight Democratic Party line. Kick out these Republican hypocrites who say they “support the troops” and then vote the other way. How much more lying can we take from this Republican Party?
