Bronco All-Stars play in regional tourney

The Fallbrook Youth Baseball Bronco All-Stars looked sharp in their bid for a regional championship. Thanks to donations, the boys played well and looked even better in their new uniforms. A special thank you goes to the many local businesses and individuals who donated money so Fallbrook would be well represented.

It has been eight years since a Fallbrook team has represented the county in a regional tournament, and these 12 boys did a fantastic job. As the San Diego Section representatives, the boys drew a tough Jurupa team in the regional opener and held their own through six innings. They could not contain the big bats of Jurupa, though, and eventually lost 13-3.

Fallbrook then played a great game on Saturday against Fountain Valley, again holding the lead into the sixth inning. Fountain Valley came through with a few big hits to take a 5-3 lead into the seventh. Fallbrook would not go down easy, though; after two outs, Fallbrook hit a solo homerun to make the score 5-4. Then, a single and a stolen base put the tying run on second. However, the Fountain Valley third baseman made a terrific play to get the final out at first.
