NC CERT classes still accepting students

The North County Community Emergency Response Team (NC CERT) is conducting free classes to train community members how to prepare for any type of disaster, either natural (such as a wildfire) or manmade (a terrorist attack).

Class members will be taught wildfire prevention, fire suppression, basic first aid, light search and rescue and psychological impact of disasters as well as other vital training.

The classes are held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays for eight weeks at Living Waters Church, 2000 Reche Road, Fallbrook. Persons interested in the free training can still join the class and make up missed classes.

The disaster simulation drill will be September 22. The class will be sponsored by Killer Pizza from Mars in Fallbrook, who will also provide yummy munchies. Persons interested in attending the classes (but who missed the first two) can still do so by attending the next class and reviewing the information online, then making up the classes at a later time (to be announced).

Those interested in attending the classes should contact NC CERT Public Information Officer Millie Martin at (760) 500-7473 or [email protected] or Administrative Section Chief Linda Bannerman at (760) 723-1245 or [email protected].
