Head-on collision involves felony DUI

BONSALL — On August 2 at approximately 5:30 a.m. Analyn M. Senko, 21, of Menifee was driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla westbound on SR-76 west of Olive Hill Road at approximately 50 mph. Melchor B. Gonzalez, 48, of Vista was driving a Ford Aerostar eastbound on SR-76 at an unknown speed.

For reasons yet unknown, Senko crossed over the solid double yellow lines, entered the opposing lane of traffic and collided head-on with the Aerostar. Both vehicles came to rest on their wheels, blocking the eastbound lane and partially crossing into the westbound lane.

Both Senko and Gonzalez were transported to Palomar Hospital. Gonzalez suffered major head trauma and was admitted for further treatment. Senko, who was also admitted for minor injuries, will be charged with felony DUI and was released into the care of the hospital staff.

SR-76 was shut down for approximately three and one-half hours while the collision was investigated and the vehicles were removed.
