AAUW sends representatives to conference

Current President Chris Young and Past President Sherry Ludwig represented the Fallbrook branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) at the National AAUW Convention in Phoenix last month. This was the national organization’s 125th year of leadership in causes for equality for women and girls, positive societal change and lifelong education. Centering on the convention’s theme, “Expanding a Legacy of Leadership,” Young and Ludwig attended workshops on education and economic security, global perspectives and leadership and change.

Central topics covered at the convention were “Honoring Our Legacy” and “Intergenerational Perspectives.” Keynote speaker was Renee Poussaint, cofounder and CEO of the National Visionary Leadership Projects. A former broadcaster, Poussaint shared her work of the project with the attendees.

Fallbrook AAUW is recruiting new members to assist in meeting the challenges of an ever-complex world. A champagne brunch to welcome potential and new members will be held at the home of Fred and Chris Young on September 15 at 10 a.m.
