CATCH meeting to feature local dentist

Local dentist Dr. Katie Stewart will be speaking at the Fallbrook CATCH (Community Access to Child Health) committee meeting on August 14. Dr. Stewart will be reviewing the Fallbrook Smiles Project (FSP), a nonprofit group that goes into area elementary schools and provides free dental screenings to children. FSP will also provide free or reduced-fee dental care to children and adults who meet certain financial qualifications. Also to be discussed is the use of Xylitol-containing products during pregnancy and childhood to help prevent dental decay and otitis media in children.

The Fallbrook CATCH Committee is a program of the American Academy of Pediatrics. The local group meets the second Tuesday of each month at 8 a.m. at the Fallbrook Adult Day Care Center, 320 West Alvarado Street. Interested healthcare providers, parents and community members are invited to attend. For more information, call (760) 728-1781.
