Calling all chili cooks!

Fallbrook’s chili contest, the last of the downtown Hot Summer Nights Series, is looking for chili cooks. Friday, August 31, between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. will be the time to prove that your chili is the very best in Fallbrook.

Contestants are required to provide six gallons of chili for the tasting, “prepared and delivered hot,” with provisions for keeping the chili hot during the serving. Tasters are allowed to vote up until 7:15 p.m. for their favorite chili.

Competition between the chili cooks is a lot of fun, besides a chance to win a plaque or cash prize in the amateur or professional division. First place for the amateur division is $100, second prize is $75 and third is $50. The People’s Choice Award, the most popular prize category, is the best chili chosen by the people. This year’s judges include past winner and head judge Fred Ragland, Delos Eyer of La Caseta Restaurant and a yet-to-be-named third judge.

Fallbrook Connections Networking Group, made up of local business and professional people, is responsible for the Hot Summer Nights series. For more information and to register to compete in the chili cook-off, call Sharon Mullin at (760) 723-1113 or Jane Wilson at (760) 805-3460.
