Jamieson Glenn Koyl

Jamieson Glenn Koyl, 84, died peacefully in his sleep after a prolonged illness, on August 7, 2007, in a residential care center near his home in Pittsburg, CA.

Glenn was born in East Palestine, OH, May 31, 1923. He served in the US Navy during WWII in both the South Atlantic and South Pacific areas. He worked with the Red Cross as a safety director, and as a swimming and boating instructor. After his marriage to Jackie Schroeder, he returned to college and earned a teaching credential. He then taught at Lincoln High School in Stockton for three years before coming to Fallbrook High School in 1959.

Glenn taught at FUHS for 28 years, retiring in 1986. He was a highly respected member of the faculty, earning the prestigious WHO award in 1967. WHO, We Honor Ours, is a county award presented to outstanding teachers selected by the member’s peers. He was also Division Chairman of the Business Department.

Glenn and his wife, Jackie, were also very active in the Fallbrook Community Baptist Church, of which they were charter members and also Youth sponsors.

He is survived by wife Jackie; daughters Glendalyn (Dan) White and Karen (Warren) DeBoer, California; nine grandchildren; brother George Koyl; and many nieces and nephews.

In describing their life together, Jackie stated, “We gave our lives to the Lord Jesus Christ and, therefore, as His word proclaims, we are His children and so we know that Glenn is in heaven with his Lord and Savior right now.”
