Cribbage team wins senior challenge

The Fallbrook Senior Center cribbage team easily won the July 26 Senior Challenge. With 31 players in the event, the Fallbrook team won 59 games to Oceanside Senior Center’s 53 wins.

For the second time in three months two players won all their games. On top was Oceanside’s Anne Flaherty with 7 wins and 2 skunks. Following her was Tom Waterbury, who also had 7 wins but did not have any skunks. They were followed by Lilo Mendizza, who had 5 wins, with 4 of them being skunks. In fourth was Ray Lanoue, who also had 5 wins but only 1 skunk. Next was Marty Hess, also for Oceanside, with 4 wins and 3 skunks. In the final count Oceanside had 15 skunks to Fallbrook’s 7.

The $25 gift card donated by the Albertsons store in Fallbrook was won by Eileen Barnes of the winning Fallbrook team.

Senior Cribbage Challenges are held on the fourth Thursday of each month and consist of seven games. The next match will be held August 23 at the Vista Elks Lodge, 1947 East Vista Way. The lodge can be contacted by phone at (760) 724-1968. Play begins at 12:30 p.m.; those who would like lunch are asked to arrive by 11:30 a.m. All who enjoy cribbage are invited to join the fun.
