Local musicians earn world champion status

PASADENA — The Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps of Concord, CA, completed their three-day sweep of the 2007 Drum Corps International World Championships August 11.

Their show, “Winged Victory,” was performed in front of a crowd of 45,000 at the Rose Bowl, winning the final show of the season in impressive fashion with a 98.000 and sweeping the Brass, Percussion, Ensemble Visual and General Effect caption awards.

Included in the Blue Devils Corps this year were Fallbrook residents Montana Malbrough (son of Jordan and Ruth Malbrough) playing timpani and Tim Leonelli (son of Phil and Margaret Leonelli) playing tuba. Both are former participants of the Fallbrook High School Marching Warriors.
