Bonsall Sponsor Group looking for members

The Bonsall Sponsor Group has two vacant seats and encourages residents within that district who are interested in serving to apply for the vacancies.

The seat vacated by Larry Sundram in August 2006 has been opened to public application, and the sponsor group’s August 7 meeting saw the resignation of Kirk Nelson, a Camp Pendleton civilian employee who is being transferred to Washington, DC. Nelson had also been the newest member of the sponsor group; his appointment had been ratified by the Board of Supervisors on June 19 and the Camp Pendleton deputy public works officer held his board seat for two meetings.

“We are interested in two community members who are interested in planning and land use issues,” said Margarette Morgan, the chair of the Bonsall Sponsor Group.

Sundram’s seat was held vacant due to the possibility of merging the Bonsall Design Review Board with the Bonsall Community Sponsor Group. That consolidation is currently in the document stage of the county process. Due to the possibility of the Bonsall Design Review Board becoming part of the Bonsall Sponsor Group, offers were made to Design Review Board members to fill Sundram’s vacant seat, but no Design Review Board members were interested. “Now we are opening it up to the public,” Morgan said. “We are going to have to look to the community for a new member.”

Morgan and her colleagues on the sponsor group will have to look to a specific part of the community. The sponsor group seats are divided into districts, and both Sundram’s seat and Nelson’s are for the district entirely within the 92003 ZIP code rather than in a district on the outskirts of Bonsall.

The Bonsall Sponsor Group meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.; the current location is the Bonsall Community Center.
