Questions for Mr. Hahn

While the outcome of the Iraq War and whether global warming is fact or fiction remain to be seen, there is one thing that is entirely predictable: if anyone condemns the Bush Administration in the Village News “Opinions,” he must expect to be scorned, if not burned at the stake.

Mr. Hahn lived up to my expectations [“I say Wright is wrong,” 8/16/07]. The surprise is that I agree with his opinion regarding the global warming Live Earth concerts. However, I do question a few of his other ideas.

I wonder why a resident of beautiful Fallbrook would not be expected to be critical of a defective government. Would the same be said of, say, a resident of beautiful New Orleans or any resident along the beautiful Gulf Coast?

I wonder why it is acceptable to bash Al Gore but hateful to bash George W. Bush. I wonder why Mr. Hahn thinks I am so “wrong” in my thinking when, according to this President’s popularity rating, I am a member of our nation’s majority.

I wonder if he has listened to any farmers or ranchers who cannot understand why they are governed by strict health and sanitation standards that are not applied to imports from China. Does he really believe that China is more concerned with our health or about the money they are raking in from their exports?

Why does he think the questioning of these things is an indication of “venom towards my fellow Americans” rather than concern for their welfare?

Whatever his reasoning, I do appreciate his kind call for prayers for me. We are all in need of prayers, especially in today’s world.

Bonnie Wright
