Youth Soccer Opening Day this Saturday

It’s soccer time and the Fallbrook Youth Soccer League (FYSL) Opening Day is this Saturday, August 25, at Ingold Field beginning with a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. There will be two 50/50 raffles ending at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. A silent auction of various baskets is being offered with a variety of themes. Tractor rides for the young at heart, as well as booths, food, games and Major Market Script, are also being offered. Team pictures are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The U14 boys and girls teams have already started playing in the Vista league. This is a great opportunity for these players to play with some very good teams and it helps to prepare them for the various tournaments held after the season ends.

Last year’s U14 boys all-star team won three major tournaments after the regular season ended. They are hoping to continue this tradition; coaches are still looking for a few boys who want to play in a completive recreational league and participate in three or more tournaments. There are just a few openings left in several levels and waiting lists are being formed. Parents can go to http://www.fallbrookyouthsoccer.com to sign up.

The 2007 FYSL Challenger Soccer Camp was a great success, with 46 players attending. The training these players received will help them to develop not only individual skills but team skills as well. FYSL offers camps like this in order to continue to strive for excellence in youth soccer.

Sixteen new referees graduated from this year’s referee class. Many of them were under the age of 16. Not only did these students learn the rules and regulations of soccer but they are now able to earn some very good money during the 2008 season by refereeing local soccer games as well the many tournaments held throughout the season.
